Theft Intervention

Theft Intervention

[All PDS class types are conducted using our live, remote interactive Web-Class experience]

The Theft Intervention program is designed to reduce the repeat offenses of issuance of worthless checks, shoplifting, or other theft offenses. The program is suitable for a pre-trial diversion or as a condition of probation. Class Participants examine where they are, how they got there, and where they want and need to get to in life. Core Topics involve reconnecting with personal values, identifying thinking patterns that lead to workable and unworkable choices, their relationship with alcohol & drugs, setting values-based goals, and other factors of personal behavior with a focus on changes in behavior and surroundings that are needed or have been initiated by the Participants following Theft related offenses.

Our program is a one-day, Intervention that utilizes a unique delivery method incorporating multiple Evidence-Based behavior change practices including The Change Companies’ trade-marked Interactive Journaling®, the principles of Motivational Interviewing (Miller, Rollnick, et. al), and effective cognitive strategies based on the Acceptance & Commitment Cognitive-Behavioral Model (Hayes et. al). The class discussions and Interactive Journaling® are highly effective in encouraging the participants to recognize the need for and benefits of behavior change. The class also provides introduction to skills to help participants make needed changes in attitude and behavior with specific regard to illegal behavior. This program is a suitable referral resource for: Theft, Bad Checks, Shoplifting, Burglary, Credit Card abuse, UUMV, etc. All program Facilitators are certified through PDS and The Change Companies.
